Hearing Rehabilitation at DWM Audiology
Your brain does a remarkable amount of work every time you listen. When hearing loss develops gradually – as it usually does – the brain quietly adjusts to receiving less sound. Hearing aids restore what was missing, but your brain’s processing pathways still need time, and the right support, to fully adapt.
That’s why our care doesn’t end at the fitting.
From 2026, DWM Audiology’s hearing aid program includes structured aural rehabilitation using LACE AI Pro – a clinician-monitored auditory training platform backed by over 20 years of clinical research. We’re a certified LACE AI Pro provider, and one of a select number of clinics in north-east Melbourne offering this program with professional monitoring.
What is Aural Rehabilitation?
Aural rehabilitation refers to the support provided after a hearing aid fitting to help a person get the most from their devices and improve their overall communication ability. It recognises that hearing aids alone don’t fully restore hearing – particularly in the kinds of challenging environments that matter most, like noisy restaurants, busy workplaces, or family gatherings.
Research consistently shows that patients who participate in structured auditory training alongside their hearing aid use achieve significantly better outcomes than those who don’t.
About LACE AI Pro
LACE (Listening and Communication Enhancement) AI Pro is an evidence-based auditory training program developed by Neurotone. It’s the most clinically-validated auditory training program of its kind, with 10+ published clinical trials, over 20 years of research, and tens of thousands of patients worldwide.
The program trains the areas of the brain that process speech – not just the ears. Just 15 minutes a day over 30 days has been shown to improve speech understanding in noise by up to 40%, with results lasting at least six months.
It’s designed to be easy, effective, and engaging – used on your phone, tablet, or computer, with no tech experience required.
What the Program Involves
LACE AI Pro is suitable across a wide range of hearing needs:
- New hearing aid users who want to accelerate their brain’s adjustment to amplified sound.
- Existing hearing aid wearers who still struggle with speech in noise despite wearing their aids.
- People with mild hearing loss, auditory processing difficulties, or hidden hearing loss who don’t yet require hearing aids but want to improve their listening performance.

Why choose DWM?
DWM Audiology has served the Heidelberg and north-east Melbourne community since 1980 – as one of Australia’s first independent audiology practices. We’ve always believed that great hearing care doesn’t end at the fitting appointment. LACE AI Pro is an extension of that belief – giving our patients the tools, the evidence-based structure, and the professional support to hear as well as they possibly can.
