About Us

Our audiology clinic was one of the first private practices in Australia, set up by Janice Milhinch in 1980. The clinic has had a series of name changes as new audiologists have become owners. As of January 2020, Myriam Westcott and Kate Moore are directors of the clinic, which is now named DWM Audiology.  

We are a professional partnership of clinical audiologists who together with our staff offer extensive experience in hearing assessment, hearing aid fitting/fine-tuning, hearing rehabilitation and central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) assessment.  As a result we have considerable proficiency in the evaluation and successful management of complex hearing and communication issues.

Our clinic has an established history of evaluation, management, workplace consultancy and research into tinnitus, hyperacusis, acoustic shock and hearing conservation.  Dr Janice Milhinch was instrumental in the identification of acoustic shock as a newly identified condition, carrying out the first extensive study of 103 patients with acoustic shock in 2001. 

The expertise and experience of Myriam Westcott, Kate Moore and Ross Dineen has placed our practice as one of the leading clinics internationally providing therapy for tinnitus, hyperacusis, acoustic shock and misophonia.  We have the unique opportunity and commitment to carry out clinically focused research in an independent private practice setting. 

We are accredited to provide services for WorkCover claimants and on referral from the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (DVA).

Our Ethics

Our philosophy is to provide audiological services in an independent private practice setting, with strict consideration of the ethics involved.

Our ethical policy is as follows:

  • We will not recommend an audiological service, including hearing aid fitting, unless it is clearly indicated.
  • We will not accept any incentives, such as gifts or travel, from any hearing aid company. When we recommend a certain brand, you can be assured that this is because we have researched the benefits with a group of our more experienced hearing aid users, not because of any sense of obligation to or discounting from a particular company.
  • Once we have assessed your hearing, we will give you a clear indication of the level of benefit you can realistically expect from your hearing aid(s).
  • We are committed to supporting you as you adapt to your hearing aid(s), by providing as many appointments as you may need, at no additional charge, for 12 months after hearing aid fitting. This continues until you have adapted to your hearing aid(s) and we are satisfied that you are receiving the best possible level of speech intelligibility.
  • We want to make hearing aids as accessible as possible, by keeping our prices fair, and usually below the industry average. We offer hearing aids covering a range of technical sophistication and cost.
