Audiologist

Deanna Tan

Deanna has experience as an audiologist in a wide variety of settings since graduating in 1986. She has worked in public sectors such as the Royal Children’s and the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospitals, and was the senior audiologist at Broadmeadows community health services (now DPV Health) from 1989 to 1993. Deanna has also worked with private Ear Nose and Throat specialist clinics as well as independent hearing aid providers.

Deanna took a hiatus from audiology to move to Penang with her young family, where she had a career change to work in a multinational computer company delivering internal communications for a global project. As much as this was an exciting opportunity to travel and interact with colleagues from all over Europe, the USA and South-East Asia, Deanna missed the satisfaction of working with patients on a personal level. To that end, she updated her qualifications in completing the Masters in Audiology degree in 2018 and to return to the profession that gave her the most fulfillment.

Deanna is passionate about personalised patient care and education. She firmly believes that helping patients understand their hearing loss can give them insight into how this impacts their daily communication and relationships. With the available options laid out for them, they can then be empowered to make choices which are well informed and the most suitable for their own individual situation.
